Every Stateroom Closet has a Safe for your small valuables. To give you an idea of the size… one iPad will fit easily at the bottom. Two have been reported to fit at an angle – due to the locking mechanism also taking up space when the door is closed.
These are similar to hotel room safes – you select a four number code.
I use my safe to lock up expensive jewelry, passports, credit cards and my license. (Expensive jewelry – ba ha ha – my bling is cheap; and it validates my overall “look”..!)
I have never heard of any issue with room theft. I trust my RoomStewards completely. Much more than I have ever trusted any hotel cleaning staff. I leave my camera and video camera, iPads and iPods, iPhone and MacBook Pro Laptop all over my space without any issue. For the “first time” cruisers – just wait until you meet the high quality of staff and officers onboard – you will be at ease.
If you are inviting new friends into your space for parties… for example the three “kids” in their twenties probably will do…! Lock up your stuff..! The rest of us have no worries…!
If you still have a concern – you can go to Guest Services and have your valuables placed in the vault. (If any of my friends own a diamond this extravagant – then I want to see it…!!)
P.S. I have been a member of several online Cruise Forums for over seven years – I have never seen anyone discussing a theft occurring. Only new cruisers asking this question – and a bazillion seasoned cruisers reassure them of their property’s safety. These forums discuss questions industry wide – not just in reference to Royal Caribbean.
